Project Resilience

Advocating for victims of terrorism

Project Resilience is our first and flagship project, underlining much of our work over the years following our launch.

Through Project Resilience, we advocate for the rights of victims of terrorism - both to receive improved support from the state, and to their recognition and inclusion in our efforts to counter terrorism.

Research and outreach:

In addition to the above, the Project Resilience team actively seek out opportunities for survivors of terrorism to share their voices and contribute to widening the conversation on terrorism and how radicalisation can infect a community. To this effect, we have presented research and talks at a range of events and venues, including:

  • UNESCO HQ, Paris

  • UN General Assembly, New York

  • The Houses of Parliament, London

  • The Imperial War Museum, London

  • The Council of Europe, Hellenic Parliament Building, Athens

  • The European Commission, Brussels

Some of our successes in this space include:

  • Campaigning, fundraising, and, eventually, successfully installing a Plaque on Westminster Bridge to commemorate the lives lost in the attack that occurred there in March 2017

  • Co-convening with the National Emergencies Trust the first ever UK “Survivors’ Forum” to bring together survivors of terrorist attacks across the UK to hear their views and perspectives on counter terrorism.

  • Campaigning for the British Government to establish a “National Day of Remembrance and Tribute to Victims of Terrorism” with Survivors Against Terror.

  • Organising and hosting the commemorative services marking the anniversary of the Westminster Bridge attack for several years in a row.

Political Engagement and The All-Party Parliamentary Group

Through Project Resilience and our outreach work, Resilience in Unity also acts as the Secretariat body for the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Terrorism and Security. APPGs are informal groupings of Parliamentarians with a shared interest in a subject topic or geographical area.
